Hilary Newsletter 2025
Chairperson’s welcome
Hello all, and welcome to our first newsletter of 2025!
A lot of the work this term goes on behind the scenes, organising our holidays which are just around the corner! Tickets to the dust museum (Paultons Park) have been booked, paperwork battled through and our leaders trained. With all of this, we can confidently say that our holidays are more than ready to begin, and we cannot wait!
Even with all of this, the committee has worked very hard to continue to promote ExVac in wider college life. From flowers to raffles, again, there as not been a dull moment in the ExVac calendar - be sure to read on to find out more!
Before we move on, I again want to say thank you to all those who have kindly donated to our cause, ESPECIALLY David Thomson, for his unexpected and generous donation. Your support enables us to do the work we do and we will forver be greatful.
Best, Nina
Chairperson 2024-2025
Internal Fundraising:
Lucy and Rebecca, our amazing internal fundraisers, have been keeping the student body cheerful through Hillary!
MCR and SCR Karaoke
After the success of last term’s Karaoke, typically frequented by JCR members, the MCR and SCR wanted to get involved. Of course, we did not disappoint. It turns out that the MCR and SCR love an ExVac cocktail as much as the JCR does!
Valentines Roses
Sharing the love - personalised notes, anonymous or signed were gracefully left in the pidges of students.
ExVac Raffle
Now we come to the largest event of this term. Jacob, Lucy and Rebecca pulled out all the stops to put together an amazing array of prizes! From theatre tickets to manor house dinners to VIP Club tables to a free ball ticket - we had it all. The JCR came together to the grand reveal, hosted by our favourite dynamic duo Max and Subhan.
Leaders Bucket Shaking
Every year we test the dedication of our leaders with a bit of bucket shaking on Corn Market Street - whilst it is not every one’s piece of cake, some people love it! This year we saw new innovation with leaders asking members of the public to spin a wheel to decide how much to donate. Though only a yearly undertaking, it is a part of getting our name out to the wider public community and giving our leaders a chance to explain what ExVac is and what it does!
Dinner with the Oxford Guild of Tour Guides
The executive team had the pleasure of meeting with the Oxford Guild of Tour Guides, long-standing friends and supporters of ExVac. Every year, they generously donate the proceeds from their Christmas caroling across Oxford, helping us bring unforgettable experiences to children in need. Over dinner, we exchanged stories about the city we all love, strengthening the bond between our organizations. Their continued support is a testament to the power of community and generosity, and we are incredibly grateful for their friendship.

Upcoming events
Town and Gown 10K
Oxford’s Town and Gown takes place on Sunday 11 May 2025 this year. Last year we had 45 runners from Exeter College running for ExVac and raising over £2000 in the in process! This year over 30 students have already signed up to run on behalf of ExVac, each of which will be running in a complementary ExVac T-shirt. It is amazing to see the Exeter community come out in support of our cause. Please come join us, whether you want to run or would prefer to be a supportive face on the sidelines, this is a big day in the ExVac calendar, and we would love to have you there with us! If you are interested in getting involved please email info@exvac.org! We can’t wait to see you there!
ExVac’s 2024 Town and Gown Runners
ExVac’s 2025 AGM
ExVac’s Annual AGM will take place in Trinity term in June. It is a time when the wider ExVac community gets together to celebrate, to catch up with each other and what ExVac has been doing. If you are interested in attending, please contact chair@exvac.org and I can provide you with more information!
